Westfield State honored with a My Boss Is A Patriot award

The Massachusetts Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recently recognized Westfield State College for its support of local reservists and National Guard members.

Miguel DeJesus, a staff sergeant in the Air Force Reserve, presented the My Boss Is A Patriot award to Westfield State College President Evan S. Dobelle and Curt Robie, assistant vice president for facilities and operations at the college.

DeJesus, who manages the mailroom at the college, was deployed in Iraq from September 2008 to January 2009. 

Reservists may recognize their employers with a My Boss is a Patriot award to show appreciation for support and cooperation with an employee’s reserve status.

The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is an agency within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs. It was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between reserve component members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.
